The Mill Studio
The Mill Studio, at 17 Gustin Square, Colton is located in the lower level of a historic carding mill, on the Racquette River.
It is divided into upper and lower areas and is appointed with authentic beams, stonework and beautiful river views. The kitchen area has a sink, refrigerator/freezer, microwave and
dishes. The main sleeping area has a queen sleigh bed and antique light fixtures.
The upper level has a full size bed as well as a lounge and living area. The bathroom is constructed around an original barn foundation creating a large stone rain shower unit. Steps from the front door is Stone Valley trail which is the geographical divinding line between the Adirondack Mountains and the St. Lawrence Valley, creating 3 1/2 miles of class 5 kayaking waterfalls. Fantastic Hiking!
The Ziplid Lodge
The Ziplid Lodge Unit is a unique miniature version of full lodge living. Its character is full of living in the past with the finer details of today.
This 165-year-old former carding mill still has its original walls and ceiling creating an extremely warm rustic environment. 1800's lumber has been used to build the cabinets that hold the old cast iron porcelain double sink- a piece that seems to have the heartbeat of the room. Authentic wrought iron railings and hand hewn cedar, edges the staircase up to the intimate lookout seating area. It is here where the sun rises and the reflection of the sunset gives a brilliant picture of the beauty of this property and the river. The common sighting of a mature bald eagle, vast array of smaller birds, waterfowl and aquatic wildlife are often the only entertainment you will need. Our outside seating area is full of great furniture and an array of gardens and planters to make relaxing as comfortable as possible. When the double French doors of the lodge are opened it brings the outside and inside together giving a wonderful space for unique living.
We have designed this unit to have all the small things that make you feel at home. From the wine glasses, to silver and dishes, home theater, flat screen TV, a unique kitchen island, refrigerator, stove, comfy furniture and linens and pillows galore we know we've given it our best touches to make it truly a lodge experience.
Placid Unit
The Placid Unit is conveniently located on the ground level of the building next to the Mill. It has it's own private entrance as well as a private bath and is not adjacent to other living areas. It has a waterfront view along with views of the gardens on the property. Cable television and wireless internet is available.
